Ecology and Climate neutrality
We are aware that ecological improvements cannot be had for free. On the other hand, it often works out that investments in ecological improvements contribute directly to the bottom line. As part of its CSR, J + K has taken a close look at how it can reduce and make up for its own CO2 emissions.
CO2 emissionens
Direct emissions from communications consulting agencies like J + K are relatively low. But there are indirect CO2 emissions from heating offices, using electricity and business travel trips. We can also influence CO2 emissions resulting from our advisory work, such as from printing brochures or holding events.
Our offices in the Beisheim-Center use community heating and are very well insulated. Community heating presents a good eco-balance sheet. An annual consumption of approx. 40 kilowatt hours per square metre is good by any objective measure, so that we do not see any need for further improvement here.
Owing to its existing lighting and state-of-the-art IT equipment, J + K only has a limited capacity to make significant savings in its electricity consumption. Our activities here focus on making environmentally friendly acquisitions when we invest in future.
Paper consumption and business travel
For our own use, we only ever use paper made from FSC-certified wood. Our business stationery is printed by EMAS-certified printers in bio-colours that are climate-neutral.
We try to limit the ecological effects of business travel trips by making the mobility of our staff more efficient. This also benefits our clients, as time spent travelling is mostly inefficiently spent working time. Nevertheless, it is essential for a communications consulting agency to stay in personal touch with its clients.
Climate neutrality
J + K made itself climate-neutral for the years 2006 to 2008. To achieve this, we we work with partners such as the Forest Carbon Group, who bring with them proven competence in capturing and avoiding emissions.
Whether it is a matter of climate-neutral printing or climate-neutral events, the knowledge we have gained from our involvement in the issue of ecology and climate neutrality enables us to add value when advising clients that want it.
